Perhaps the best post ever.

I know, this raises expectations. Be the judge yourself.

A while ago I posted about my neighbour who found out I’m a nudist and that I like to go around naked in my own house. He does not want his daughter and her kids to see me naked. Last week I was changing the bedding. I was naked. It had been very hot (93F) the day before, and the night hadn’t been cool either so I had opened the window and the curtains to air the place. Then I heard kids. I turned and saw two children I had seen before. At the local nude beach. They’re brother and sister, 8 and 10 I think.

I know them and their parents. The kids recognised me and said they were visiting their grandparents next door with their mother, and they were playing outside on the gallery. Their grandma had told them about my cats (they sit looking out the bedroom window quite often) and the kids asked if they could play with them.

I said that was fine if their mother had no problems with that. They went to ask and mom was fine with it. I was already grinning, because clearly this lady’s parents didn’t know she was a regular at our local nude beach.

The kids came in and asked (!) if they could take off their clothes as well, “because we do that at home too”. Of course, go ahead, but I told them to be careful with the cats; their claws are sharp. The kids had a good time with the cats, I finished the bed and then their mother called at the door. She came in and we had a nice talk. She seems a bit stressed about her parents and them being opposed to anything showing skin more than a finger or a nose. They had told her (actually warned her) about me. She thanked me for allowing the kids be the way they liked to be and then they left.

This encounter still has me laughing. I’ll probably run into the family again at the nude beach and I am not sure if I can keep back my laughter when I see my neighbours again.

A naked vacation-hike

A few weeks ago I was on vacation in the US of A. It was a great vacation. I had planned to get to the nude beach near the Golden Gate Bridge but that didn’t happen, alas. However, on my wanderings I happened to reach Reyes Point Station, about an hour north of San Francisco. The weather was amazing, there were no people around on the parking location and so I decided to have a little walk around.

Point Reyes 1As you can see, the weather was absolutely stunning. The trail was very winding, going up and down a lot as well.

Good thing I didn’t have any clothes on because the temperature there easily reached 78F (26 C) and that’s quickly too warm for serious hiking around. My lack of attire made the whole thing a very pleasant experience though.

Of course there was a spot where I put something on: at the end of the first trail (called the Jepson trail) there was a large parking lot with dressed people and cars. I don’t want to make others feel uncomfortable around naked people so I covered myself.

Point Reyes 2No one noticed anything because of that. Okay, it’s a sad state of affairs that naked hikers have to go through that but it wasn’t for more than a few minutes. I was once more impressed (in a bad way) how very warm you get inside clothes, walking over a stretch of asphalt to the start of the next trail.

Once on that trail (called the Johnstone trail), another winding, climbing affair, I was out of the fabrics quickly. Once again no one on that trail (I guess most people around there don’t like to walk around in nature, not even dressed) and I went on my merry, nude way. It was an even better trail than Jepson as it was longer and nature was at its best.

If you ever feel like having a cool walk (I walked about 3.5 miles/5km), that is definitely a good spot to do it. “Parking” marks where I parked my car, the parking with the people is at the top where the two trails connect to the ‘hook’.)

Every body is beautiful.

Not that again!

And why not? It’s not me who’s reading this, it’s you. And I agree if you’re moaning. Not every body is beautiful. Not in the light of modernday standards anyway. On a side note I am not sure which standards that would be because like everything in life, standards have a tendency to jump around and do different things every few days, weeks, month or years. Look at fashion (hey, a nudist who talks fashion!). What was great last year is entirely impossible this year.

beautyqueens 1920sCan you guess when the girls on the left were beautiful? Do you think these women are beautiful? This is 1920s beauty. It’s quite different from these days, isn’t it?

beauty_queen_t580Compared to a 2015 beauty queen the 1920s girls won’t stand a chance with most modern people.

The odd thing is that there’s nothing wrong with either period. We’re real people with real bodies (although that might be reason for discussion in these days). With the visual overload and indoctrination of the media that we all have to be young and happy and smiling and all that crap, it’s no wonder that many people go berserk trying to live up to ‘the standards’.

Plastic is fantastic when your butt sags, or when your boobs are the wrong shape.  (How can something natural be the wrong shape, can someone explain this to me? We’re people. We get old. Some don’t (often thanks to the attempts to keep up with being young and pretty).

Naturists / nudists have a much more healthy concept of beauty. They don’t give a damn about how someone looks. If there’s a nice person inside, that’s what counts. That is what makes someone beautiful.

Nude art?

This is an older video and it’s in German but don’t let that put you off. The title of the video is A Chair for the Brave.

The supporting text on Youtube says:

When you’re brave you can become part of a piece of art. A simple chair waits for someone to sit down on it. The catch is that this person needs to be undressed. This idea stems from the artist Franz West who died last year. (Note: this video is from 2013.)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1O1tzarRNYo

I think this is a brilliant bit of video and the stunning thing is that even when the people who undress and sit down on it aren’t avid nudists, they all were impressed how natural it feels. The young lady at 1 min 48 seconds says, “It’s a bit of a threshold you have to get over at first but after undressing there’s nothing to it.”

At 2 min 40 the artist says, “If you consider how ‘naked’ we are these days, with all the scandals around listening devices and how health care insurances can deny you medication or other help if you didn’t do all you can to keep fit, then there is no way that we can still provoke people by the view of a real naked person.”

chairiconDo you know we all sit too much?

And do you know that too much sitting around isn’t good? Don’t worry, this is not going to be a post about all the things that are good for you because what’s good for one doesn’t have to be good for the other.

It’s just something I want to draw attention to because it’s something we probably almost all are doing. Sitting too much.

DSC02194

I noticed this with myself too. I used to get home after a day at work (where I mostly sit)  and after dinner or whatever the time is I would sit (!) down at my computer and check mails, share and read on the few social media that still allow nudity and then I’d write.

The Naked Crow books require a lot of writing, so they also require a lot of computer work. (No, I’m not doing all that writing by hand!) And computer work is usually done sitting, until I had a great idea. Well, I think it was great then and I still think it is:
DSC02192
I got a simple high bar-table and put my laptop on it. I now switch my computer work between sitting at the desktop (above) and standing at the laptop (left). And I can tell you that wasn’t easy at first. My legs had to get used to this VERY much. In the beginning I could barely stand for 10 minutes. Now I’m doing better. I can stand at the laptop for 2 hours without a problem. The thing to remember is that you occasionally have to move about, use your legs. Otherwise you get painful feet and knees. It’s the joints that then get the rough times.

I don’t know if you have experienced something like this already. If you did and you went for a solution, good for you. If you didn’t yet, maybe this post stimulates to think about sitting and how you could avoid doing it too much.

I don’t want my daughter to see you naked

This is the oddest thing I’ve heard in a while. Really. I have temporary neighbours. They are in their late 60s/early 70s and nice people. When they moved in (waiting for their new home to be finished) I warned them that I may wander through my own house not wearing anything.shocked woman For a while nothing seemed to be a problem, until either he or she actually saw me. The next occasion they met me outside he told me, “I don’t want my daughter to see you naked”. Uhm, what? He insisted that this wouldn’t be acceptable because his daughter might have her children with her. Note that his daughter is almost forty and since she has children I am convinced that she’s seen what naked men look like. Of course I don’t want to harm the tender children’s psyche by submitting them to the horror of my naked body but somehow I think that it wouldn’t be the big deal he’s making of it.In the woods  Add to that the fact that his daughter usually visits during the day when I’m either off to work or working at home in my living room (usually naked but far away from the bedroom window). My neighbour is really worrying about something that’s not worth the energy spent on it. Did this ever happen to you?

The weird world according to a naturist.

Yes, according to many naturists (I know that for certain; I’ll never say I speak or write for all of them) the world is a weird place.

The ‘general’ (non-nudist/non-naturist) world is obsessed with sex and nudity (if you don’t believe me then just open your eyes and look around).

kiltEveryone is curious, almost hungry to see what’s under your clothes, even though it’s too obvious what’s there as there are only 2 genders in humankind and everyone has seen each of the models in the nude one time or another.

Of course, shape, size and colour may vary but the basic package for everyone is exactly the same.

For instance at a beach you can see girls wearing the most skimpy little things to “cover” what shouldn’t be seen, while at the same time the skimpiness of it all is meant to uncover everything so it can be seen. How stupid is that?

And it gets even worse.

Beneath the kiltAs soon as a member of this very same curious general public is given an unobstructed view of what’s actually there, there’s no relief to their curiosity. On the contrary: shock, horror, finger pointing and screaming will ensue (probably after enough people grabbed their phones to take pictures of the corpus delicti). Indecent exposure is the least of one’s problems, being accused of sexual harassment very probably, and with some luck the police force is called out to pick you up and throw you in the back of their car and finally into jail where you, being the pervert that you are, belong. (But we do have the pictures, those are fun to show around!)

Skimpy bikini This is much better.

More honest too, because there is nothing in the way of ‘indecent exposure’.

Or isn’t it? I don’t think so.

Nudism is acceptance of and honesty about one’s body and that of others, no buts or maybes.

Covering things up is social hypocrisy.

Google Plus. A question to the people there.

And so my account on Google Plus is blocked. Due to indecent material.

Selection_20150302-17-1520:03:09

I think this was because of the user icon that I used there. The same one I’m using here and in a few other places.

avt_nud02_sSuddenly this image on the left is considered ‘pornographic or sexually explicit’. I am not certain which of the two applies here. I have changed the user icon there (a while ago even) and removed some pictures that might be offending to them as well. If they still object then I can only imagine that this is because of images that show on Google Plus through posts shared from this blog.

If that is the problem then I’ll have to find a way to go around that.. if it’s worth that. This post should go to Google Plus as well. People on Google Plus: do you appreciate my blog?
