Europe’s winter

Let’s be honest: in most parts of western Europe this winter’s a laugh if it wasn’t such a sad thing.

Many people think that naturism and winter doesn’t mix. I’ll grant you that many opportunities aren’t the best during winter, but with a proper winter when there’s snow and a day with sunshine, there are still things you can do. For instance you could go for a hike:

Naked snow hike

It may sound mad but if there’s no wind this is actually quite nice.

If there’s a proper winter and some lake around you could also do this:

I’m not entirely certain if I’d be into this, although I’ve once participated in a frosty New Year’s dive. These things are fun to do.

This year’s winter is a never-ending rain shower combined with too much wind. The combination makes it very unlikely that (m)any naturists go out for hikes, walks or so, as the temperatures aren’t up to level for that. Roll on, summer. I can live with you.

Work naked.

Once or twice a month I try to work from home. It’s not just environmentally friendly (no car so no fuel so no exhaust gas), but it’s also very liberating to do so. Because when I work from home, I work naked. If I don’t have to go outside I stay unclothed as much as possible. The exceptions are when I feel cold or sick. Then staying warm is more important, but there are ways to stay warm without ‘real clothes’. A fluffy bath robe makes a big difference then. But usually that’s not necessary.

I’m not the only one who likes to work naked. I know of several others who prefer it that way. A surprise however could be these people who also like to work naked:

Did you know this actually happened? Not lately of course. Health and safety would forbid it, if they survived the heart attack from hearing about it.

For now I’d be happy if there was a nude day at work.

Unfortunately, with today’s attitude towards the naked body, that will be a while. Until then I’ll work nude when I’m at home.

Do you ever work naked? At home? At work? Somewhere else? I’m always happy to hear what other people do, and how they manage it. It’s all about sharing ideas and motivating others, you know.

Stay happy. Stay nude.

Did you notice?

There was no post last Wednesday. Sometimes life in the outside world takes over more than we want, and the last couple of weeks did exactly that. My Dad is 92 (imagine that) and needs a lot of attention now dementia is kicking in. That’s why I don’t spend as much time on the computer (and on writing) as I’d like. Priorities need to be prioritised.

How has your naturist 2015 been? Have you engaged in anything spectacular, like the people above who did the Bristol (UK) Naked Bike Ride? For me the trip to Lanzarote and visiting Charco del Palo was definitely the highlight of this year.

The year’s coming to an end rapidly, Christmas is around a few corners and soon after that we’ll have the opportunity to make 2016 a fantastic naturist year. I hope you’re with me to make that happen!

Mirror Earth

Hi!

I thought I’d tell you a bit more about the new Scifi I’ve been working on for a long time. “Mirror Earth”. You may have seen the post where I showed off the cover already.

What I want to tell you is: it’s almost there! Now… what the book is about…

Earth. The future. Researchers have discovered how to detect fluctuations in time and found that there is the possibility for alternate realities. Complicated calculations, big laboratories and big interests are at stake.
A group of researchers is dedicated to pursuing the biggest experiment in their lives: to see if there are indeed other worlds like ours. And what will they look like if there is anything like another Earth?

Step into the world of Mirror Earth to discover what’s out there…

For the paper version I had a very funny idea. This is the front, as you may have seen already (which is also the front image of the e-book):
Mirror Earth Front
This will be the paper version’s back:Mirror Earth Back

🙂 My aim is to get the e-book version out into the world (our world) by next Saturday. As usual, the paper version is slower but that will come out as well.

The body

There is so much talk about the body these days. Everyone has one but so many people don’t like theirs because they allow themselves to be influenced by the media. Media who tell they they have to look like they’re 18, fit, blond, slim, smart, and more of that. I call bullshit on that.

A body apparently also is ‘sexual’. Even more bullshit. When you are in the shower (and I assume you won’t wear much there) do you feel sexual? Perhaps sensual – because of your senses noticing the water running down your skin – but sexual? Only with a specific intent. Yes, the intent for sex. Then I can understand the mistake. But intentions don’t come from bodies. They come from minds. Minds that are fed by stimuli from outside. And guess where ‘outside’ is? The media. Because they are everywhere.

native americans

Look at these Native Americans. They show their bodies. Is this a sexual scene? If you think this is then please explain to me what makes you think so.

african tribe

People from an African tribe. Most of them naked. Is this sexual? I think they’re looking at something, discussing something. These people aren’t ashamed of their nakedness. They take it as a given (which it is, they live this way) and there are no media around to poison their minds about it.

Every body is a good body, be it slim, not so slim, round, square, triangular (please send me a picture of that if you run into one because this somehow just popped up with the shapes) or whatever other shape you can be in. It’s you, and you count. Not the ideas that others try to force onto you.

Disappearing into nature

Since launching the Gaia Project in 2011 Orly Faya has painted people into landscapes all around the world.
Each ‘merging’ as she refers to the body paintings is a unique experience for both the subject and the artist.

Vacation report – Lanzarote – 1

As you may have picked up here and there, I’ve been on vacation. It was a veritable nakation, a vacation as naked as possible. Where?

map-canary-islandsIn a small town called Charco del Palo on Lanzarote, one of the Canary Islands. (It’s on the right at the top in this map.)

Charco del Palo is about 25 minutes driving north of Arrecife, the capital of the island. It’s gorgeous.

I had booked an apartment at Casa del Sol Siempre, which is run by a Belgian lady and her team. No worries, all languages are supported. It’s a beautiful place to spend time, and they haven’t seen the last of me there.

The views are stunning, the apartments are clean and very well furnished. If the staff there can do anything to help you or make your stay more fun, they will jump through a burning hoop to make it happen. I strongly recommend Casa del Sol Siempre (which mean ‘House of eternal sun’, by the way.)

From the apartment complex you can walk onto the rocky coastline immediately, and walk for miles to either side if you want. And all of that undressed, because Spanish beaches are all clothing optional unless marked differently.

Make sure you wear something decent on your feet when you take a hike there. The rocks are many and most of them are very sharp; they will go through your thin slippers like a sharp knife through warm butter. And your feet will be the butter. Be warned.

Here is a video that I made during a few of my walks along the coastline, to give you an impression of this amazing place:

Next week I’ll try to post some more about my vacation.

Naked meditation – 6. Progress

Welcome to part 6, probably then end of this short and simple trip into the world of meditation. How are you doing? Are you feeling more comfortable with meditating? Do you experience anything out of the ordinary?

If you want you can post your experiences here in the comments. If you feel unsure that’s a good idea you can of course always drop me an e-mail.

Note for norther hemisphere people: the weather is getting colder now. If you notice that meditating isn’t going that great because you focus on shivering, be smart and pull a blanket or so around you. There’s no need to feel cold while meditating – in fact that won’t help you at all. Don’t use anything restricting like clothes: a blanket will work. You’ll be naked and warm beneath that.

Notice:

If you already feel that this form of meditation is not working for you, that’s okay. Perhaps you are not one for a “sitting still meditation”. You can look for a yoga class near you and practise the forms you learn there naked, at home. Or you might even find a naked yoga class near where you live. Just don’t give up on this form of meditation too quickly. As I said before, it may take weeks or even months for your overloaded mind to accept this peace and quiet-stuff as a good thing. It will happen.
