My Nude World – the iPhone app for nudists

Far before Nudist Compass was developed, Young Naturists America created an app for the iPhone called My Nude World.

As stated on their site:

MyNudeWorld for i-Phone

We have created one of the world’s easiest to use App which will enable you to find all the nudist and naturist events , parties , meet-up groups , beaches , groups, organizations and destinations anywhere in the world at a click of a button.

A few screenshots (more on the site itself):

The iPhone app is available here. Since the development of the iPhone app, an Android app has also become available, which you can find on the Google Play-store here. Unfortunately the reviews on both sides are not very flattering, but they’re quite dated. Too bad, since either version of the app will cost you $6.99.

Perhaps the program has been updated, so use at own risk!

Another app for the iphone is iSwimNu.de, an app that will help you find places to swim in the nude all over the world.

The bra – the original booby-trap?

Despite the colour, women shouldn’t be ‘forced’ to wear these things.

Lately there have been studies that wearing a bra will actually make the breasts of a woman sag more than when they leave the bra away.

Sources: Medical News Today, The Inquisitor

Of course there is always a ‘but’. As seen on TheWeek.com there is a catch:

Rouillon cautions that his study is preliminary and that it would be “dangerous” for all women to stop wearing bras. He admits his sample size still isn’t large enough to be conclusive, and since his volunteers were ages 18 to 35, he can’t speak for older women. In fact, in an inadvertently uncouth way, he says, “An overweight, 45-year-old woman with three kids has no business not wearing a bra.” Ouch. So, essentially, as Weaver puts it, Rouillon means “Don’t wear a bra (HOT LADIES ONLY).”

Yet another reason to accept a clothes-free / nudist lifestyle where things like this are not an issue.

World record attempt

On June 14th in Zandvoort, there will be an attempt to break the world record skinny dipping. More information here (in Dutch). Money is collected for the hair-foundation, to help people who suffer from hair-loss.

Luckily I don’t suffer from that, but it’s a good cause, and also a nice opportunity to go nudist again.

Some more about Nudist Compass

I wrote a mail to the makers of the Nudist Compass app to thank them for this fantastic tool:

Thank you 🙂

We plan to add new functionality and improve what’s already there. Hope it will be even better then.

Nudist Compass team

I’m already looking forward to the new functionality and I wonder what that is, as the program’s already so good.

Dutch law regarding nude recreation

Hello nudists,

In a Dutch town there was an action against discarding the local nude beach. (Report in Dutch here.)

A most interesting part in this article is: Strafwet. De strafwet staat bloot recreëren overal toe, zolang anderen zich daar niet aan storen.”

Criminal Law. Criminal law allows nude recreation everywhere, as long as others don’t take offence.

Now that’s something I didn’t know. Basically this says you’re allowed to go nude anywhere as long as you’re not bothering others. Quite cool!

This webpage for a Dutch naturist area (in Dutch of course) explains that the law article where this is detailed is number 430a. Most important part: “Het wetsartikel 430a maakte naaktrecreatie dus mogelijk op alle plaatsen die voor ongeklede recreatie geschikt zijn. In het algemeen zijn dit plaatsen waar geen openbaar verkeer langs komt.”

Law article 430a therefore enables nude recreation in all places that are suited for clothes-free recreation. In general these are places where no public traffic passes by.

(Public traffic here needs to be seen also as pedestrians and cyclists of course, not just cars.)

Another website (maintained by a lawyer), “Strict in criminal law” (Scherp in strafrecht) states: “Of een plaats voor naaktrecreatie geschikt is, wordt bepaald door plaatselijke omstandigheden en de redelijkheid.”

Whether or not an area is suitable for nude recreation is decided by the local circumstances and reason.

Which makes sense of course. With public awareness that nude recreation is more and more common, there would nothing against finding a silent/secluded spot in a forest and drop all clothes there for a while. Doing so in the middle of a town will certainly be frowned up (and that would be the least), so with these things in mind, the possibilities for nude recreation in the Netherlands become quite a lot more extensive.

Nudist Compass

I found this little gem on “homeclothesfree.com“:

NUDIST COMPASS for Android
Android application available from https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thatbeyond.nudeco.beta

Developers website: http://nudistcompass.com/

This app is a must for every active naturist/nudist. It is well designed application which works in conjunction with Google Maps and http://nakedplaces.net to provide an interactive map of naturist/nudist locations around the world. An invaluable tool for the naturist/nudist traveler and for anyone seeking naturist/nudist locations to visit. Currently there don’t appear to be any locations listed in Africa although the South African Naturist Federation lists several venues. The app is still in beta phase so there may a few malfunctions but I have not found any as yet.
I will be recommending it to all my fellow naturists.

Body Image

A brilliant observation on Body Image:

I was hanging out on the deck with a female friend this past weekend. It was hot, about 75F, and my friend had shed all her clothes.

“I don’t mind being nude here,” she told me. “Nobody can see us. But I wouldn’t want to be naked at a beach — I don’t have a nice body . . .”

And that in a nutshell is why some people fear social nudism, I suspect. Body image. They are self-conscious about their bodies because they don’t have the ideal model look (read: skinny).

I assured my friend that there is nothing wrong with her body, that she looks just fine, and that nudism is, in part, about liberating ourselves from unrealistic body images and just accepting and celebrating people as they are. I also explained that few people will be looking her body up and down.

I know how it is: we are our worst critics when it comes to our appearance. Yet I also know that when it comes to interactions with people, their appearance is irrelevant. It doesn’t matter whether they are fat, skinny or in-between. It doesn’t matter whether they look like Cinderella or The Phantom of the Opera. And it doesn’t matter whether they are dressed in the most fashionable clothes or clothes from a second-hand shop. What matters to most people is the soul reflection in their eyes and the love in their hearts.
