This one’s for the ladies. Do you miss your bra?

What? Bras? What’s this about?

Bra

Yes. Bras. You know about them, right? Breast bags.

Long time ago, in a podcast of the Naturist Living Show, I heard about a study by a French man on the goods and bads of bras. Not so long ago I heard another podcast, this time from Stuff you should know, called “How bras work“.

They referenced the same study, which means there isn’t much study done on bras. As I listened, I wondered about something:

Do naturist woman miss their bra when they’re “doing naturism”?

Lady ‘doing naturism’

Cultural heritage

In our ‘modern’ Western culture it’s normal for people to wear clothes. For women it’s also ‘normal’ to wear a bra. The effectiveness and need of such an item of clothing has never been fully explained, as far as I know, but I’m not the bra-wearing gender. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Now to the reason why I ask this question: ladies of naturism are, as the picture up there shows, bra-less. I really wonder if they feel any discomfort regarding their breasts while being in that totally naked state. After all, they ‘cage’ the bosom in a bra all the time (generally speaking; I know there are women who don’t). This wearing of said item creates a habit and I’m curious if that affects the feeling of being naked.

Is it like wearing underpants and not wearing them is a relief? Or is the moment of putting on the bra one of relief? Perhaps/probably this is a very personal thing, which is an answer too.

So that’s the wonder of the week and I’m unleashing it onto you, my (former) unsuspecting readers.

Let the reactions begin. If there are any…

YouTube! STOP censoring our Naturist/Nudist community!

This is a cry for help from Hector Martinez against the censoring of Youtube. Hector is the president of the naturist community in Mexico. His cry, however, is not limited to Mexico. It goes out to all of us, naturists and nudists.

Youtube terminated his naturist channel on May 16th 2020. Hundreds of videos are gone. Thousands of subscribers are suddenly void of this important source of information.

After watching and listening, could you please join the movement and sign the petition at Change.org and act against the censoring?

Please also share this post / video / link to as many naturist friends as you can.

Thank you. Not just from Hector, but every naturist who values the freedom of expression.

Vacation. Nudist camping vs nudist hotels vs COVID-19

Vacation plans in the current state of being.

It won’t be a surprise that the vacation and recreation industry will take a severe hit from the current “flu crisis”, as I saw the COVID-19 situation described somewhere.

COVID-19 image

It will be obvious to anyone with a bit of sense that COVID-19 is more than just a flu. It makes weird things happen and more weird things become necessary. Like keeping social distance.

Social distancing on vacation.

This made me think about what the title of this post already warned about. Camping versus hotels.

I expect that camping grounds will see a boost in visitors. On a campground it is much easier to keep the 1.5 metre/6 ft/whatever is current in your country distance than in a hotel.

Hotels will be fine as long as it comes to rooms, but they aren’t prepared to keep people at any required distance when it comes to food or simply moving around. At least, that is my experience with naturist hotels. (If you have any other experience, I would like to hear about it.)

Camping grounds are made to give people space.

Camping plots/lots/spaces usually are quite a bit apart. That, in this situation, is a good thing. As you can see my grasping for the right expression, I am not an experienced nor avid camping visitor. In fact I’m far from that (sorry, camping owners, don’t hold that against me!).

Do you run a naturist hotel?

If you, dear reader, run a naturist hotel, how will you tackle the upcoming vacation season? Is there any way to actually do that? I suspect, the larger your hotel is, the harder it will be to deal with the social distance aspect of life.

I am very curious about that, and with me there are probably many others, because your kind of vacationing experience is very dear to many people, also readers and followers of this blog.

Talking about Mirror Earth…

Mirror Earth
The book that started the Mirror Earth trilogy

Yes, I did that, on the sibling blog NaturistFiction.org.

In that post I hinted at the possible possibility that there might possibly be another book in the set. I somehow feel like Douglas Adams now, who put 5 books in the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy trilogy. 4 is a good start, isn’t it?

Mirror Earth 2

I’ve been making some plans. I’ve been reading parts of the first three in the original Mirror Earth trilogy. Hmmm. There might be options. Openings.

It looks as if I’m going to give that a try.

And then this comment popped up:

Another Naked in Space would be great also.

Someone simply left this in a response on the above-mentioned post.

Ehm, what now? I had not expected that to happen, but I have to admit I am very grateful/pleased/happy/proud of that.

Nude in Space

Is “Nude in Space” really worthy of a successor? Hmmm (yes, again).

I have to say that it was an interesting premise to write about. A challenge as well.

Let me put this down as another definite maybe. At the moment I’m working on part 2 of Murphys in Space, as well as a few other projects, and I don’t want to get so many going that nothing gets done. That’s not helping anyone.

I’ll first get more in the clear about another Mirror Earth volume. After that there’s always time to consider a sequel to Nude in Space, or perhaps something else. New. Different. Strange. Weird. Just leave that to me. In the mean time I do appreciate all the comments and suggestions. Trust me (uh-oh, don’t buy into that! LOL!), they are not wasted!

Stay safe, stay nude.

How working from home affects the wearing of clothes

Working from home

Working from home
Working from home

We all have been socially distant for a while now. Working from home has become the norm for most of those who still have a job. (And yes, I very much feel for the people who were furloughed or laid off. That should never have happened.)

I don’t know how you can go about your business at home. I live on my own, with my cat. My cat doesn’t care if I wear clothes. As long as he gets attention and food, he’s happy.

Since I don’t have to run out to work, I tend to stay clothes-free most of the time in my house. For some online video meetings I put on a t-shirt or something because I know that is necessary, but that’s about it.

And then grocery shopping happens.

Grocery shopping and any other kind of outside activity requires clothing. We all know that. It’s a sad state of affairs that we all lament plenty of times during the week or even the day, depending on how often we have to leave the nudity of home.

For me, social distancing brought a lot of naked freedom. I hope you encounter that too. Not having to wear clothes is great as long as you can get away with it. But this freedom clearly comes at a price.

I still have to get dressed once in a while. Just like before any lock-down and social distancing. But lately, the act of suffocating my body feels worse. My skin is getting more and more used to breathing freely, and suddenly there’s this layer of stuff on top of it.

I object!

I really do. Living la vida desnuda (the naked life) is great, and it’s really sad that this is not accepted by the world. Of course, when it’s cold, it’s smart to put something on. But on the Northern hemisphere, summer is coming. How nice would it be to go outside clothes-free. Okay, I’ll stop here – we’ve all been there before.

Still, with COVID-19 going around, it pays to be careful. Somewhere online I read that the virus will live shorter on skin than on fabric. I have not found proof of that. In fact, this interview hints at a similar life span for both skin and fabric, so be careful.

Live long and naked, people. As much as you can.
