A naturist’s view on pockets.

Pockets. What about them when you have none?

Pocket

Pockets. We all know them and put things in them. A big question for non-naturists and new naturists is: where do I put my things? After all, a proper, modern human being isn’t complete without keys, a phone, paperwork, a wallet and what not.

There are no pockets in your skin.

paul nude lanzaroteAbsolutely true, and that’s how I like it best. If you’re a genetically or surgically modified human who now has pockets, do step forward and tell us about your experiences.

Having no pockets has made me clever about taking things with me.

First necessity: a bag. Consider that one big pocket and you’re already set.

Second necessity: don’t take the kitchen sink with you.

Be clever about what you really need. Are you on vacation and you’re not going to drive, leave car keys and paperwork in your tent, bungalow, hotel room, wherever you stay. It makes for lighter walking. Walking in warm weather? Take something to drink with you. Don’t be stupid and risk dehydration. Do you need your wallet if you’re not going to stop anywhere? Leave it ‘at home’. Same if there’s nowhere to pay for anything; why take the thing with you?

Break the things-obsession.

This is where we get closer to nature-ism, which isn’t for everyone. Nature didn’t invent keys, wallets, phones and all that. If you can do without those, even for a few hours when out and about, do not take those things with you. Learn to live without facebook, twitter, snapchat and whatever more or less social medium you frequent for a while. You might be shocked to find how much you see of your environment when you’re not staring at your phone all the time. You might even meet people. 😉 And if you’re lucky they’re inclined to be naked, like you.

Those tweets will wait for you to come back, trust me.

A naturist’s view on videos

Videos? What videos?

Believe it or not but most naturists are quite sensitive about videos. And pictures. Especially when those contain imagery or footage of them in the nude. Not everyone is ready to be so exposed to the public. For those who aren’t afraid of that however, there can be a different problem. It’s something I’m facing at the moment.

Vimeo cap
Screencap of one of my videos

I’ve uploaded a few videos onto Vimeo (because Youtube is far ‘stricter’ concerning nudity). The thing I’m fighting now is the amount of sex-crazed idiots that are set on following me on Vimeo and who keep asking for more videos. Ehm. Right. It’s considered flattering to be told “you have a great ass and I want to ram my dick in you”. At least I’m sure it is flattering in certain circles. Not mine, let me tell you that.

Measures I took.

No videoAfter being ‘invited’ to join a few of my ‘fans’ to ‘hook up and have some fun’ I made most of my videos private. No one will be able to watch them any more and the only place to see them is when I put them up here, on my site. I’ve found that this reduces the amount of unwanted ‘invitations’ drastically. It’s sad I have to do this but I don’t want to be seen for what I’m not, and worse: what naturism isn’t.

It’s not an invitation for sex.

Better ways to do public videos.

I’m not sure if there is a way to put up videos in a way that won’t be considered such ‘invitations to invitations’. If anyone out there has great ideas or suggestions, I’m all ears!

For now I’ll leave you with this video of a brave and admirable lady who explains why she likes to be naked on the beach.

A naturist’s view on religion

Naturism and religion.

Yes. It had to happen as it’s a topic of discussion wherever I seem to look lately. There are Christians against and in favour of naturism. Muslims in favour of and against naturism. I’m not going to delve into the pros and cons that every available religion has on naturism because that would be a waste of time. Only a few of them have no problem with it, I’m sure.

So why can’t you be naked and religious?

First off: I am not religious. I’m spiritual, which is something else.

Naked Indian Yogis.

I’d be in their league if I had to choose something. Luckily I don’t have to. On to some of the things I don’t get about nudity and religion.

Christianity

GotQuestions:

Although the world’s standards may permit or even encourage nudity, the Bible has a different perspective. It is true that the first humans were created unclothed by God (Genesis 2:25). Adam and Eve were innocent in their nakedness, but after the fall everything changed.

So basically nudity was fine. Their god, and that of many others, created the people in his image. Initially they were nude. Gives reason to think.

Of course this is all metaphorical (except for those who take the bible literally) but still there is strife between pro and con nudity Christians.

Islam

Wikipedia:

The intimate parts of the human body must, according to Islam, be covered by clothing. Exposing the intimate parts of the body is unlawful in Islam as the Quran instructs the covering of genitals, and for adult females the breasts. Exposing them is regarded as sin. Precisely which body parts must be covered varies between different schools of Islamic thought.

This is a bit problematic when several schools in one religion don’t agree on what’s what.

In general

I think everyone should be free to decide whether or not to dress. Regardless of religion.  However I also think everyone should not interfere with people who think differently. If you want to wear long, black clothes in the heat of summer, by all means, but don’t push your opinion of “how it has to be” on others. Your religion, your beliefs, your way. Not others, not mine. I know Christians who are against nudity. I know Christians who are fine with it. Bottom line: be happy being a Christian and don’t bug each other.

Adam and Eve

Same thing in Islam. There are lots of nudists in countries like e.g. Egypt. They’re forbidden to be naked outside. They meet up in the dark, in apartments, so they can spend some nude time together. Why can’t other Muslims just let them be?

Honestly folks, if nudity is such a big deal in the eyes of your gods, then your gods should prove their allmightiness by changing peoples minds. Not letting you, the people, fight this out.

Note that this is not every naturist’s view. It’s mine. Just so you know. I’m also not digging deeper in other religions. Feel free to do so if you want to know more.

A naturist’s view on nature

Naturism belongs in nature.

NatureSounds kind of logical, doesn’t it? Naturists should have some connection to nature. They do, even when some don’t know it. In nature nothing’s clothed. People, how shocking this might be to some, are part of nature, so they shouldn’t be required to be clothed either if there’s no good reason for that.

But without clothes you’re… naked!

Yup. You got that damned right. And guess what… that’s the whole point. Tell me one thing that’s not naked out there in nature, apart from most human beings.

Oh, dogs with their fur? Bears with their fur? Birds with their feathers?

surprised animal

How could I have forgotten! Of course I didn’t. Those creatures didn’t go shopping for fur or feathers to cover themselves. They don’t rummage through shops and online catalogues to get the latest and greatest in new fashion. That is how they are. In that light you might agree that naked people are also what they are.Man dressed undressed

woman dressed undressed

Like this. Just natural, the way they were born, without the obligatory garments.

Don’t get me wrong: clothes can be necessary. When it’s cold, or when the environment is too dangerous for bare skin.

Unclothed creatures are the real deal. The “what you see is what you get”. Like with animals, furry, feathered or scaled. When you hide behind clothes you are hiding your true self. No one will ever know the real you because all they see is the projection of you that you chose at that moment.

Consider that. People see what you want them to see. This means that you also just see what others want you to see! Do you really know the people you know?

A naturist’s view on ‘that first time’

That first time.

Do you remember that first time when you decided you didn’t like those clothes on you in the great outdoors? That you decided to take them off and be happy with that decision? I do.

Before the heat got to me.

It is a long time ago. Before there were digital cameras or cell phones. It was hot that day and I had gone for a bike ride. Those two things didn’t mix well, I found out, so I stopped in some woods and hoped to cool down. Alas. That didn’t go well either. I knew it was because of my clothes, even when I wasn’t wearing much. Took off the shirt. Much better. Went a bit deeper into the woods because… that first time… you never know.

Not from back then but I still enjoy it

Of course deeper into the woods it was even warmer as heat lingered there. So I decided to go all naked, if only for a moment. That was revelation time. I dared to walk around a little. It was amazing. Bliss. I didn’t stay out there very long but I’ll never forget that very first taste of being naked outside, with nothing but the warm (okay, it was hot) air on me, and walking around without feeling clothes.

I remember how I didn’t like to put my clothes back on and having to ride the bike back like that in the heat. I also remember that this was the way to live for me, and since then I’ve done so whenever I can.

What was your first naked outdoor experience? Did you plan it? Did it ‘just happen’ like it did with me? I’d love to hear about it if you feel safe to talk about it!

A naturist’s view on the bare bottom

A naturist’s view on the bare bottom

I thought I’d get you with that one. Not just because of the word ‘bare’ but because of the concept, I guess. And the odd one who is after some nice bottoms. Do I have news for you…

Bottoms. We all have them.

Bottom

And yours may look like one of those above. Maybe not. It’s interesting to me that the bare bottom is seen as something unpleasant. Uncalled for (which I understand, I never call my bottom, I sit on it).

The ‘seen as’ also is something I want to mention. Why do people focus on a bottom? It’s a part of the human body. A convenient one. Some have better looking ones than others but some people have crooked teeth. That doesn’t make them better or worse. Neither does a nice bottom.

Moving around is easier when it’s bare.
Or isn’t it?

bottom

As the gentleman here demonstrates, doing sports or other activities in the bare state (including the bottom) is good. Fun (I am sure, even if I don’t see his face). I for one am always ready to move around in the buff. The downside of that is that the weather needs to cooperate for that and in my area, the Netherlands, that’s not always the case. Lucky you if you live in a place that’s warm enough and allows you to go around naked! Power to you!

No butts. Nor buts.

3 bottoms

Really. No butts. Bare-bottomed you can do just about anything except take your pants off. Watching classic cars? No problem. Watching television? No problem (but remember your towel). Reading? That too can be done bare-butted. Apart from the clothing addicts and ditto industry there are no buts about it: you can do lots of things in the nude. Here’s someone watching paintings. I was at that venue in an Amsterdam museum. It was great.

But what about the outdoors in general?

That too can be enjoyed butt naked.

outside butt

Most of us know this, of course, and we all know we bare(bottom)ly get enough opportunities for that. Again, if you do then more power to you.

Being able to be nude outside, bottom and all, for simple things like a stroll, a hike, some swimming or just lazing in the sun, are just a few ways to enjoy the outdoors. Give your bottom that needed sunlight (but be sensible about it, it usually doesn’t see the sun that much).

What’s your favourite bare bottom outside activity? What’s the coolest, craziest or most enjoyable thing you did in the bare bottom state?

A naturist’s view on reading

A view on reading?

Okay, if this surprises you, you haven’t been paying much attention. Hibernationists excluded of course, they have a valid (I hope!) reason.

Paul readingYes. Naturists read books. And whenever possible this naturist likes to read in the nude. There’s nothing to it really. Just make yourself comfortable, get a good book, and you’re ready to go.

It’s that easy. Although finding a good book might throw you at times.

Why in the nude?

Well, I did say comfortable, didn’t I? As long as you’re comfortable, you’re in the right state to read. If you feel great and ready to read for a while when you’re uncomfortable, I’d love to hear from you how you do that. And certainly also why.

And what do naturists read?

Anything. Literally anything. Horror like you can expect from Anthony Crowley (@crowley_anthony on Twitter, he’s a naturist), poetry and introspective works like Robert Longpré writes (find out more about him on our new site NaturistFiction.org!) but there’s no limit to what naturists read. Romance? Historical fiction? Sure. Detectives? Fantasy and Science Fiction? Why not? And no, that doesn’t necessarily have to be naturist-related fiction. I can enjoy a good Agatha Christie story, or most anything by Ursula Leguin.

So who reads in the nude?

Probably more people than you’d guess if you’re not a naturist yourself. People in parks can do that, people at home, at a camping or anywhere that you can take a book to. In New York there’s an actual group of woman, ToplessPulp reading in parkunited in ToplessPulp, that get together and read topless in parks all over New York. This because women can legally be topless in that city (even when many police people don’t seem to be aware of that).

When I go to our local nude beach I always have a book with me. Reading’s fun and you can do it in most places.

So there you have it. Reading in the nude isn’t something awkward or mad or new. It’s nude, nothing else.

Next time you get your hands on a good book, try it yourself. Experience the ease of reading without clothes pulling in places you don’t like pulling. You could be in for a nice surprise!

A naturist’s view on hiking

Naturists and hiking.

Nude hikingDamned right they go together. Hiking is a good thing. It means you’re outside, walking, being active, being kind to your body.

Fresh air is good for a person and for one’s skin. Makes sense then that exposing as much skin as possible is the way to go for hikers. Most hikers don’t, which is sad and their loss.

Vitamin D is best taken in through the skin, soaking up sunlight. What nicer way can you think of?

Footwear counts.naked hike

For a decent hike it’s advisable, I think, to be safe. Wear something sensible unless you are one of the barefoot-forever people.

I’m not one of them. I like decent footwear. To each their own. I’ve seen people negotiate a gorge on Crete on flip-flops, so whatever wiggles your toes goes.

Easy does it.

Whatever you feel your goal is, it’s good. Is half a mile a hike for you? Great. Do you go for the big ones, 10 miles of more? Great. There’s no need to overdo things. Take what your body can handle. If your body likes it, it will motivate you to go a little further next time. This is general knowledge, not limited to nude hiking, by the by. It’s easy to go too far, get hurt and demotivated. Be smart about yourself; you’ll enjoy hiking for much longer.

Possibilities.

Where can you hike freely? I know that people in big cities pull the short straw here. I pity you. Also I can’t offer advice to everyone around the globe as I haven’t been all around the globe to see what your situation is. Sorry, lack of money, time and knowledge of where you all are is to blame. 😉

Nude hike England
Me during a nude hike

I’ve taken long, naked hikes on several of the Canary Islands. It’s great to be there and be able to do that. I’ve also made long, nude hikes in England. I’ve found that when there is a place with lots of forests, there’s an opportunity to go naked.

Maybe not all the way but there’s more opportunity than many people assume there is. A big thing over here in Europe is NEWT, an event where a group of people hike through Austria in the nude for an entire week. Here’s a video report of one such events for you:

Maybe you get inspired by this. Look for places. Scout them out if you have to. And hike naked when you can. It’s so much better than in clothes.

A naturist’s view on yoga

Naturists and Yoga

YogaMany people may not understand the connection. Yoga is something that others do, tying themselves into complicated knots and holding weird positions forever.

Just like, indeed, the lady to the right who also appeared in the Sunday Noon Nudist set recently.

And this was not by accident. 😉

What is Yoga?

Yoga practice
Yoga practice at a beach.

According to the mighty Google:

Yoga – noun
It is a Hindu spiritual and ascetic discipline, a part of which, including breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures, is widely practised for health and relaxation.
Yoga is the Sanskrit word for ‘union’.

Don’t get your knickers in a knot (I love this one with respect to naturists!). Yoga is something for everyone. If you can sit or stand, you can do yoga. If you can breathe, you can do yoga. (If you are not breathing and reading this, tell me how you do that.)

You can do yoga in any form, shape or fashion. It’s up to you how far you want to go. There are simple breathing exercises, simple stretching exercises. If you can’t bend well on your own, you can hold on to a chair. Yoga isn’t the complicated things that most people think.

YogiThis man is taking his yoga to some extremes with his extremities.

Yes, this too is yoga but I’ve never gone this far. I like my bones in place and in one piece. (I also like to eat more. 🙂 )

Naked yoga.

Since yoga is something you very much do with your body, it’s always advised to practice yoga with as loose-fitting clothes as possible. Well, how much easier is it then to not use clothing at all. Naked yoga (Google, ) is becoming “a thing” more and more all over the world, which is understandable. Moving without being hindered by clothes is the best, even when many people don’t know this yet.

A naturist’s view on clothing

A naturist’s view on clothing

What? Clothing? Yes. It’s the stuff we have to hang around ourselves in most of our daily lives to be ‘acceptable’.

tight jeans

You know, the comfortable stuff that can make sitting, walking and moving so unpleasant. It’s something the world has bestowed upon us all for the sake of ‘decency’ and ‘normality’. Because everyone’s born dressed, right? 😉

Why textile?

First of course there’s the obvious reason. Staying warm. Contrary to popular belief that should be the reason for our fabric prisons. Not fashion, not being hip, not being pretty. Staying warm. I’ve seen people take that to extremes. Imagine a summer day, nice and toasty, of about 30C / 86F. You’re sweating because it’s so warm, despite you are down to the bare acceptable minimum. And then you see someone on a bicycle in long pants, a sweater and… a coat.

Or something like this gentleman, having a blast at the beach:

There is a time and a place for everything but if he’s not there for a wedding then I wonder what got into him. (At least he took his shoes off.)

Why dress up when there’s no need for it?

I keep wondering about that. What’s this strange clothing-addiction good for? It’s expensive and most of the time uncomfortable. People who say it’s comfortable have been brainwashed by their bodies for so long that they can’t tell the difference any more.

Give me the freedom of no clothes when possible. I am not the only one. It’s with a reason that in Munich, Germany there are several parks that have clothing optional areas, and since a while there’s a huge park in Paris, France that allows the same.

Check out a nude beach in summer and you’re going to find many naked people. People who shed their garments as soon as they can.

Clothes? I think they’re highly overrated. Brainwash and hogwash. Nude’s good. Nude’s honest. Nude has nothing to hide.
