Powerful statements, picked up from a podcast

Last week I was listening to the latest Naturist Living Show podcast. (The link will take you to the right episode. If you read this ‘in the future’ the current latest will be a different one. 😉 ) This episode is about Nude Music.

I love music. I am not sure if I could be happy without it, so this was a very interesting episode.

In this episode, there was a long interview with The Soap Girls. Two French sisters who live in South Africa. Their music is an intriguing mix of stuff, with a lot of punk mixed in.

They have a lot of powerful statements about nudity, body positivity and more. Instead of transcribing the entire interview, I suggest you give it a listen.

You can find the Soap Girls’ Youtube channel here.

  1. Hello Paul,

This is Dario Western here, and I was featured on The Nude Music episode talking about a band that I am putting together in Brisbane (Australia) called Laissez-Fayre.

I want to say ‘thank you’ for mentioning this episode on your website, and I thought that I would share with you my reasons for putting a naturist/nudist pop/rock band together:

    1) As a means of promoting body positivity to a younger audience. Recently, artists like Ed Sheeran, Sheppard, Lizzo, Mary Lambert, Ton Dou, Amanda Palmer and Miley Cyrus have been tackling this topic lyrically and visually by speaking out against the sexualization of size 6-8 body types that you often see in fashion, beauty and pornographic magazines. They are about individuality and promoting *ALL* different body types as being beautiful, cool and acceptable.

    2) Taking pop music back to basics when you liked a band for the music they played and the messages that they got out with their music, not because of the clothes they wore. Too many modern rock and pop musicians are pretty much about clothes branding than expressing themselves lyrically.

    3) Nudity does sell, be it in a sexual or non-sexual way. But I want to do it in such a way that the nudity is pertinent to the songs that I am doing, so that it has a salutary effect on the audiences we are reaching out to.
