The shop
Shop
You may (probably not) have noticed it. Several links on the book pages, and also the latest email newsletter announcement of "Witch Kids", mentions 'my shop'.
Why? What? Huh? π€
I have noticed some people are trying to get away from the giants like Google Play, Amazon, Kobo and such places. The shop I set up is a way for those people to get my books without going through 'the motions'.
I'm doing my best to add 2-chapter PDF teasers to each book, but it's a lot of work. Please forgive me if I missed one, or haven't gotten to that yet.
You may notice something shocking when heading over to the shop. It doesn't mention it's the shop from P.Z. Walker, but it's "Paul Kater's World of Books". This is not a mistake. I go by that name too, usually in real life. Since 1960. I write books under that name too, you can find those under the "Regular Fiction" header. You might find something interesting there as well, in the non-naturist realm. (Contrary to popular naturist belief, it exists.)
Pricing
β‘οΈSomeone brought it to my attention that the price of a book can be higher in the shop than on Amazon, Google, etc. VAT is the reason, and there's not much I can about that. I now have the idea to add a 10% discount coupon to the "New Book" email list, for subscribers, to counter the VAT thing somehow. Such a coupon code would be valid for a limited time. 1 week, 2 weeks, I'm not sure yet.
Getting all the books on there will take some time (too many books π±), so it will happen 'in time'.
Kindle
Kindle-owners may be a bit estranged to the fact the shop only offers EPUB files. Amazon, in its wisdom, uses a proprietary format for their Kindle devices, and 'sideloading' (β¬ οΈ note, hover-text here) an EPUB file on your Kindle won't work. No worries, though. The shop has a manual on how to go about that. Click here, in the case you're intrigued or just plain curious.I've thought about adding PDF files as well, but I doubt that's worth the effort.
Paperbacks
No. There won't be paperbacks in the shop. I thought about that, but it's too much of a hassle to purchase 'some' of them (how many?) and ship them by hand.
Sorry, not sorry, as the saying goes these days.
Final note...
If you decide to pull a book from my shop, that's great. If you feel more comfortable going through the service your e-reader offers, that's great. It's just a good feeling to offer another option to readers, not forcing people to go this way or that.
