On the joy of being naked
Nudity is permitted beyond this point.

Nude Muse

Nude playing the harp
I love music. I love playing music. I have lots of instruments. People who follow me in places know about that by now.

This harp is the latest acquisition, from September 2024. It's amazing. The sound is wonderful.

Playing it naked makes it even better, and I can't explain why.

I know that very low tones can hit you in the stomach. Subwoofer stuff, that reverberates inside you more than that you feel it. That made me wonder if human skin picks up sound more clearly than through clothes. A little search got me to this page

As this is a page on healthcare in the USA, I will copy part of it here. I don't know how long this will still be available online, the way things go over there.

Abstract

This paper presents a narrative review of research literature to “map the landscape” of the mechanisms of the effect of sound vibration on humans including the physiological, neurological, and biochemical. It begins by narrowing music to sound and sound to vibration. The focus is on low frequency sound (up to 250 Hz) including infrasound (1–16 Hz). Types of application are described and include whole body vibration, vibroacoustics, and focal applications of vibration. Literature on mechanisms of response to vibration is categorized into hemodynamic, neurological, and musculoskeletal. Basic mechanisms of hemodynamic effects including stimulation of endothelial cells and vibropercussion; of neurological effects including protein kinases activation, nerve stimulation with a specific look at vibratory analgesia, and oscillatory coherence; of musculoskeletal effects including muscle stretch reflex, bone cell progenitor fate, vibration effects on bone ossification and resorption, and anabolic effects on spine and intervertebral discs.

Sound openings in the harp
Sounds up to 250Hz sounds (haha) good. The human range is commonly given as 20 to 20,000 Hz (Wikipedia), which makes me more and more convinced the skin could also be a good conducive for transmitting sound.

Especially given that a harp like mine has it's sound openings at the back, which point towards the player, as you can see here. There's no definitive statement in this, as far as I've managed to locate, but I do like the idea of it.

Music affecting you more when you're not dressed.

Me and the harp
I'm curious if other nude music makers have experienced or at least thought about this.

I find the concept intriguing, and I'll play nude as much as I can. Because I love it. Both the playing and the nuding.

Please, let me know your experiences!
