Wordt jouw nieuw jaar een naakt jaar?

Goede morgen.

Eerst wens ik iedereen het beste voor het nieuwe jaar. Dat is eigenlijk een vast gegeven maar moet wel even gezegd worden.

Hoe zie jij je nieuwe jaar? Als je niet al een nudist of naturist bent, ga je erover denken? Ik weet dat het voor veel mensen tegen de ideeën van ontspanning en zelfs ‘normaal’ indruist, maar wat is normaal? Toen auto’s net uitgevonden waren vonden veel mensen ze onveilig om te gebruiken, dat paard en wagen veel verstandiger was. En nu? Overal waar je kijkt zie je auto’s.

Misschien denk je dat naturisme iets van de laatste jaren is. Volgens de Engelse Wikilpedia:

De vroegst bekende naturistenclub in de ‘westerse’ betekenis van het woord werd in 1891 in Brits India gesticht. De ‘Fellowship of the Naked Trust’ werd gestart door Charles Edward Gordon Crawford.

In het oude Griekenland in de 8e eeuw voor de jaartelling werd sport beoefend door naakte mannen, en tijdens het Romeinse rijk, tussen de 2e en 4e eeuw, baadde iedereen naakt in publieke badhuizen, zonder scheiding van geslacht of sociale klasse.

Dat is heel wat langer geleden dan de uitvinding van de auto, en toch zijn auto’s helemaal geaccepteerd terwijl het naakte lichaam (waar iedereen mee wordt geboren) dat beslist niet is.Of beter: niet meer is. Ik vind dat best vreemd.

Will your new year be a nude year?

Good morning.

I wish everyone the best for the new year. That’s a given but never should be left unsaid.

How do you see your new year? If you’re a not nudist or naturist already, will you consider it? I know it’s against the ideas of relaxation and even those of ‘normality’ of many people, but what is normal? When cars were invented not many people thought they’d be safe to use, that there was no better means of transport than a horse-drawn cart. And look at the world now: hundreds, thousands, millions of cars. Maybe you think that naturism is a fad from the last few years: it isn’t. According to Wikilpedia:

In ancient Greece in the eighth century BC, the sports were practiced by stripped men, and during the Roman Empire, from centuries II to IV, everyone, without distinction of sex or social class, used to bath nude in public baths.

That’s much longer ago than the invention of cars, and yet cars are accepted and the naked body, with whom everyone is born, still isn’t. Or rather: isn’t any more. It’s really very strange.

Naked Poetry

Yes, really. It exists and it can be very powerful. Have you ever looked at poetry about being naked, nudism and/or naturism?
If not, or if you’re interested, may I point your attention to a book of poetry written by Robert Longpré? You can’t go wrong on the price as it’s free, but even more I think it’s a very beautiful way to express one’s feelings about living in the skin.

Met kleding kun je je uitdrukken.

Een tijdje terug las ik een artikel over iemand en zijn verslaving aan verschillende soorten kleding. Hij had er heel veel, in alle soorten, vormen en kleuren. Fijn voor hem, en nog fijner voor de kledingindustrie met hun uit de hand gelopen prijzen.
Hij vroeg zich in het artikel af hoe iemand zich zonder kleren zou kunnen uitdrukken qua gevoelens. Hij had namelijk vrolijke kleren voor als hij zich vrolijk voelde, zwarte kleren voor droevige momenten, en alles wat daar tussenin zat.

Dat zette me aan het denken, want ik heb (uiteraard, in deze maatschappij) ook kleren voor diverse gelegenheden. Hoe zou een nudist/naturist dit op kunnen pakken als de temperatuur niet uitnodigt om kleding te dragen? Het antwoord is heel eenvoudig, zoals altijd: lichaamsverf.


Verf geeft je de mogelijkheid om jezelf door kleur uit te drukken, en houdt meteen kleding verre van de naturistische huid. En ook nog, voor veel mensen die zichzelf op die manier verven zal dit een diepere, zelfs spirituele ervaring geven in plaats van kleren aan te trekken. Met jezelf verven ben je veel intensiever en bewuster bezig met jezelf en wat je met je verschijning wilt uitdrukking. Lichaamsverf aanbrengen duurt langer, maar ik ben zeker dat het veel vervullender is.
Wel goed opletten als je hiermee aan de gang gaat, niet alle verf is geschikt voor op de huid. Sommige soorten verstikken de huid en andere bevatten ingrediënten waar je zelfs ziek van kunt worden, afhankelijk van je gezondheid en eventuele allergieën. Het is de moeite waard om dit goed te onderzoeken.

Clothes give expression.

A while ago I read an article about someone who was very fond of his clothes. He has many of them, in all kinds, shapes, forms and colours. Good for him and even better for the fashion industry and their often exaggerated pricing of course.
He wondered how someone without clothes would be able to express how they feel. He said he had cheerful clothes for feeling cheerful, black clothes for when he was feeling gloomy, and all other kinds for other situations.

That made me think, because I have clothes for occasions too. How would a nudist/naturist go about that provided the temperature doesn’t call for clothes? The answer proved to be amazingly simple as usual: body paint.

Body paint gives you all the benefits of expressing yourself through colour, yet keeps clothes far from the naturist’s skin. And for many people applying body paint instead of putting on clothes can add a deeper, even spiritual experience to the act, as you consciously work on yourself and making a statement about your inner feelings. Yes, body paint will take longer, but I am convinced that it is more gratifying.
Do take care with this. Not all paints are safe or healthy to apply to your body. Some suffocate the skin, and some can contain ingredients that make you sick (depending on your health and possible allergies). It pays to investigate this.
