A beach full of nude people

[google-translator]

Yes. That’s where I spent most of the past 2 days, at a local beach full (okay, technically not full but quite nicely occupied, especially today) of nude people. It’s a naturist a.k.a. nudist beach as you may have suspected.

Nude beach. (Not ours.)

The great thing is that it’s not about the nude. It’s about the people. The fact that they don’t wear anything is just something they share and appreciate. On our small beach there are all kinds of people. Young, old, single, couple, groups, anywhere from 5 to 85 I think. And all those people ‘live together’ on that beach in the sun, in or near the water. Everyone’s friendly, everyone looks after the little kids when they go in or near the lake, and most everyone’s up to sharing what they have with them, be it tea, coffee, water, cookies, wine of just nice company.

Today there were 2 people at the beach playing concert flutes, and they treated the beach-goers to a free, short concert. It was actually very nice music and was well received. All that on an afternoon at the beach. A nudist beach. For me it’s better than a non-nude beach.

Naturist beach visit

Today it’s very warm. It’s still warm as I write this, 31c / 88F. This afternoon I took some time to go to our local nude beach to relax, get some sunshine and try to finish the book I am reading, So far I have tried that 6 times, but there are always kind and friendly people at the beach and it’s really pleasant to talk with them.

Some nude beach
Note that this is not our nude beach. I wish!

It’s impressive to find out what people visit our little beach. Last time I met someone who makes his own exclusive wine. This time I talked to a lady who has travelled all over the world and spends the winter in South Africa.

As it was so very warm and muggy, a small group decided to go for a swim. I was with them – for the first time as I’m not much of a swimmer. The water was still quite cold, several people were a bit hesitant to go in, but it was by far not as cold as the sea in which I went skinnydipping for the world record. It was great to swim naked (I know, but it’s a nice surprise every time I do it), and I think we scared a few people who were rowing a boat along when they discovered they had reached the nude beach.

As we were back on the grass to dry up, one of my fellow swimmers looked at me and said he’d seen me on TV, in a short report on the news about the skinnydip attempt. Apparently it was only a fraction of a second but I have a few unique tattoos which was how he recognised me. I should try to locate that footage, would be fun!

A day at the beach

Granted, it’s not a big sandy affair, there’s just grass and a man-made lake, but it’s our local nude beach. Yesterday the weather was amazing for a change (spring has been quite disappointing so far) so I put some stuff in a bag, added sun-block (never forget sun-block, please) and made my way out.

Overlooking the grass and the lake

It wasn’t very busy yesterday, about a dozen people in all, but that was enough to have some interesting conversations and meet a few nice people.

I hardly can wait to go back there – or visit one of the other places around.
