Flower power, free love, and yes, nudity, were some of the things that hippies promoted. They were against war (I like that) and most of them promoted a relaxed, kind, loving lifestyle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7I0vkKy504U?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption>A famous hippie song<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>During those times, especially in the beginning, hippies shocked most of the good people with their open way of life and their appreciation of the human body. I think it&#8217;s the nudity that was the biggest hangup for people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img.buzzfeed.com\/buzzfeed-static\/static\/2017-04\/20\/14\/asset\/buzzfeed-prod-fastlane-03\/sub-buzz-17698-1492712141-3.jpg?downsize=1040:*&amp;output-format=auto&amp;output-quality=auto\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>A couple with matching flower body paint walks together during the Isle of Wight Festival in the UK in 1970.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As the picture above and certainly the following one show, nudity was a normal thing among hippies. They had no issues with it. That is what made me think how we could do with another hippie-wave. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img.buzzfeed.com\/buzzfeed-static\/static\/2017-04\/20\/11\/asset\/buzzfeed-prod-fastlane-03\/sub-buzz-12679-1492703320-4.jpg?downsize=1040:*&amp;output-format=auto&amp;output-quality=auto\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Mother and child swimming in a lake. It was no problem for them.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Hippies weren&#8217;t just located in a single place, they were everywhere. San Francisco was a famous town, but also London, Amsterdam, and every other large city had their share of them, and everywhere the good people were surprised with their alternative way of life.
